19th and 20th August. Stayed Luneville, France
Motorhome parking with all services including showers and toilets. All for €9.20 per night. Great place next to the gardens of the chateaux. 48.596401, 6.49876
Luneville
We left Verdun early and reached Luneville mid morning. We checked into the motorhome parking. This place was excellent and more like a caravan park. Large sites with places to put table and chairs. Showers with hot water and toilets. I expected it to be busy but it was only half full and at €9.20 ($15) a night it was a bargain. Since leaving Australia it has been non stop, every day busy so we decided to stay here for 2 days and enjoy not only the parking spot but the town of Luneville.

It was not all rest as a few jobs needed to be done. Some cleaning, clothes washing and a hatch repair. When it was pouring with rain the front hatch had a small but annoying drip onto the top bed. Easy to fix but not easy to get to without a ladder. I took the cover off from the middle hatch and had to reach over and silicone the forward hatch. After our work was done we strolled through the gardens of the chateaux. These gardens are free to walk through and are well kept with some lovely flower beds. Our day was finished with a barbeque and some wine.

The next day after a slow morning we explored the town of Luneville and had some lunch in the town square. The market had just finished and we were entertained by the many council workers cleaning up the site. On the way back we stopped at a large supermarket buying some pillow cases for our new pillows that we bought in Amsterdam and some salmon for tea.

21st of August stayed overnight in a forest carpark, just outside of Strasbourg. Very quiet. No services 48.554429, 7.811569

On our way to Strasbourg we stopped at a Decathalon shop, these are very large sporting and camping shops. You never know what you will find, and we did find some bargains. Our camping table has always been a bit rickety and a bit big for the two of use, so when we saw a table for €15 we snapped it up. A new shirt and a jumper for Ewout, but the jacket Jenny liked they did not have in her size, but the story has a happy ending

Finding an easy park just on the outskirts of Strasbourg (thanks to the park4night app) we took off our bikes and rode to the town. Our bikes secured to a post we explored the town on foot.

The tourist office supplied us with a map (for €1.50) which had a walking route on it with explanations of the places we walked past. Said it would take an hour and a half. Three hours later we were back in town centre, we did diverge from the route several times. Strasbourg was a lovely town to explore despite being overrun by tourists. We had the obligatory ice cream along the way and a beer at the end of our walk.

Back to our bikes we road across town to a large shopping mall. There was another Decathalon store and they did have the jacket in Jenny’s size. I told you earlier that the story had a happy ending. After getting back to the Bunyip we drove about 12 kilometers to a small car park in the forest, spending the night with two other motorhomes.
