Last night it poured down with rain, our first real downpour since arriving in Ireland, we have been exceptionally lucky with the weather, apart from an occasional light shower the weather has been clear and mild. We left our farm campsite refreshed and the Bunyip sorted with a full water tank and an empty toilet.
Cushendun
Our destination today was Belfast and were in no hurry and so took the slow winding coastal road. Our first stop was the village of Cushendun mainly because it had some caves that were using in the filming of Game of Thrones. Stopping in a pleasant car park close to town we walked through the village and explored the caves. The place was used in the scene where Melisandra gave birth to the Shadow Assassin, it was also used as a backdrop for the Stormlands.
Carnlough
Back on the road and our next place to explore was Carnlough, a place with a really nice harbour and a place that was also used in Game of Thrones filming. This is where Arya comes out of the water in Bravo after being stabbed. The scones in Ireland have been delicious and it was time for a coffee and a shared scone with butter, jam and cream. Off again and into Belfast.
Finally in Belfast - our parking spot sorted
Our spot for the next three nights would be a carpark, not glamourous but right in the town centre. A ten minute walk and we would be in the town centre. Pretty it was not, but overnight it was quiet and we had the company of a few other motor homers. We purchased a 5 day ticket as it was the most economical, this worked out to be about $15 Australian per night.
All settled into our luxury accommodation we set off to the town centre.
Belfast
We didn’t have much time left in the day and we visited The Victoria Square Shopping Centre as it has a free viewing done on the top, the tourist information centre, the City Hall with a Titanic memorial and to finish off a pub for a couple of Guinness. Enough for one day back to the Bunyip and an early night.
