Our drive through the village of Saint-Pol-de-Leon
On the way to the port we drove through the village of Saint-Pol-de-Leon, a typical French village. To give you an idea as to what it is like driving the roads and villages of France I have made this video. It was market day and some of the roads were blocked. This village was very easy to get through, other can be trickier.
Roscoff and on the Ferry to Cork
9th of May 2023
We headed to Roscoff where we would take the ferry to Ireland. We spent the day shopping and doing some housework in the van. The departure time was 7.30 and motorhomes and cars were already lined up at 4.30 and we also joined the line. Once through the passport and customs check we would wait another hour until they began the boarding process. Once on board and parked up we headed to our cabin, just bunk beds with a toilet and bathroom area. On Deck we ate some pre-prepared bread rolls and watched as the ferry left France and headed to Ireland. We had an early but restless night as the boat rocked back and forth.
Have to wondered how the vehicles are loaded into the ferry’s ? I have videoed our drive into the bowels of the boat.
Finally arrived in Ireland - time for some craik.

Finally we have arrived in Ireland after planning this trip months ago, and a new country that we have not been to before, exciting !!
Arriving at 9.30 we disembarked and drove through Cork to a parking place next to the river. Now we are driving on the left hand side but the steering wheel of the motorhome is also on the left hand side a little strange at first but soon got the hang of it. The carpark was fully of motorhomes which is sometimes a good sign that it is an accepted place to park. The centre of Cork was about 3.2kms away and it was time to offload the bikes and give them a workout.
Our first stop was the tourist info centre where the super friendly man gave us information on Cork as well as 12 maps of each region and a Caravan Camping and Motorhome Guide. With our map of Cork we proceeded to explore some of the sights.
Some of the places we visited were The English Market, St Fin Barre’s Cathedral, St Anne’s Church, Butter Museum, The Elizabeth Fort and a walk down the main street. By 3.00 we were very tired and made our way back to the Bunyip. To be honest our impression of Cork was not a favourable one, well you cant like every place that you visit. When the joggers and dog walkers all went home our spot by the river was very quiet, our first day in Ireland comes to an end.
The English Market - Interesting but not the best market we have seen.
Saint Fin Barre's Cathedral - They charged an entry fee to visit inside - we declined.

St. Annes Church, Shandon Bells and Tower. They called it the Liar Tower as the clock on the different side are sometimes different, as it was today.
