We stayed at the Amsterdam City camp which is a designated parking area only for motorhomes. From the camp it is a 10 minute walk to the free ferry which takes you to the central train station of Amsterdam, close to most of the sites to visit and an easy walk or tram ride. Over the next three days these are some of the things we did.
Plenty of walking taking in the atmosphere, sights, sounds and smells.
Visited the Ann Frank House.
Went on a Rondvaart boat through the canals and harbour.
Visited the Rijksmuseum to see the many famous paintings and particularly “The Night Watch” by Rembrandt.
Joined the free walking tour.
Ate fresh herring the Amsterdam way.
Walked through the open-air markets at Waterloo Plein and Albert Cuyp Street.
Dodged the bikes. Over 1 million in Amsterdam. Only 1 gear, and 1 speed -fast.
Drank some beer.
Walked through the red light district.
Had dinner on an all you can eat pancake boat as it cruised the harbour.
Inhaled some weed walking by the many coffee shops. (Coffee shops sell soft drugs, Cafes for coffee etc.)
3 very busy days and the weather was sunny and warm, very unusual and lucky for us.
