Thursday : Today we have found a McDonalds on the side of the Highway that has free Wireless internet so have decided it was a good chance to stop, have a cup of soup and catch up with some emails, update the blog and we had the fortunate chance to catch Daughter-in-law Karen on the facebook for a chat.

The last couple of days have been rather cool with some showers so we have used the time to take it easy and do a bit of reading and relaxing.

We vistied Shonnbrunn Palace on Monday after having a talk with our family on the webcam at a local cafe. We caught the train and tram to the Schonnbrunn station and walked up to the gate and were gobsmacked. It Really is an impressive building and even though we knew what to expect its immense size was awe inspiring. We decided to have our lunch in the garden first before we tackled the tour through the building. Luckily they give you hand held audio guide in English so we were able to get get the low down on the history of the place. No photos were allowed to be taken, but we did get a lot of the gardens. So after a busy day we left Vienna Tuesday morning and headed south east towards the Hungary border to a rural area with a lot of lakes and a large National Park. We found a campground at Andau that was next to a swimming area and stayed there a couple of nights. Apart from us, there appeared to be only 1 other camper ( caravan) the rest of the site had private cabins, and they were mosty deserted so it was a very quiet place to stay. The toilets and showers were great and fantasically clean. We took the opportunity to also do some washing in their machines and did a bit of camper cleaning. We went for a small drive to the park but as it was cold and windy decided to not go for a walk or bike ride that day. Instead we just went back to camp and pottered around and did some reading. So today we headed off to Hungary. We will look for a campsite near the Danube today and tomorrow hope to go into Budapest for a few days. We have bought a vignette (road tax) for 10 days and although haven’t planned to stay in the country that long we will see how it goes. After Budapest the plan is to head down to a large lake area and spend some time there having a look.. We don’t know much about Hungary ( expt. Goulash) and none of our books have any info. so we will be winging it here. I think a nice visit to the Tourist info might be a help.
