Our exiting news is that we are off to Europe for another trip in the “Bunyip”. the sad news is that this will be the last trip in our beloved motorhome. That is why we have called this trip the Last Waltz Tour. But as the word of the below song say “But that don’t mean the party is over”. We will still be travelling overseas and with out new campervan “Scamp” we plan to explore more of Australia. One door is closing but there are other doors waiting to be unlocked.
Its the last waltz The last waltz with you But that don’t mean The dance is over Its the last waltz The last waltz was through But that don’t mean That the party is over
The above lyrics are taken from a song by “The Band” , the Last Waltz Refrain. the song was written by Robbie Robertson and played at their farewell concert in 1976. [Now I am showing my age]. There is a movie about the concert directed by Martin Scorese. You tube has some clips, great veiwing.
Where are we going?
This will be trip number 11 in the Bunyip and we though that we would explore some countries that we have not been to. So we came up with two new countries Ireland and Wales. Our itinerary is – we will pick up the motorhome in the Netherlands, drive through Belgium and into France, there we will meet up with friends Clyde and Anna and explore Bittany for a week. In Roscoff we take a ferry to Ireland. After a few weeks in Ireland we take a ferry to Wales, then England and our final ferry takes us to Dunkirk. From Dunkirk it’s a short drive back to the Netherlands. Below is a very rough map of our intended route.
Below is the actual map of where we went, very close.
The map is interactive, you can zoom in and out. Click on an icon and you get a photo with a breif description. Click on “Look at blog” and the blog associated with the place will appeare.
Why the last trip for the Bunyip ??
There are several reasons that have lead to the decision to make this our last trip. The Bunyip at 26 years old is starting to show signs of aging. Also after the passing away of our cousin Martin the role of looking after the Bunyip has now fallen to his brother Ewoud [yes same name as me but different spelling]. No offence but he is also not getting any younger. We are also looking forward to exploring other places apart from Europe. After this trip we would have visited 40 out of the 44 listed European Countries [according to Worldometer]. The countries we have not visited are Malta, Iceland, Ukraine and Belarus. Not a bad effort and the Bunyip has performed amazingly well with very few issues. The world is more than Europe and we have plans to visit other interesting destinations. We now have our campervan “Scamp” in Australia and plan to explore more of our own country. It will be sad to say farewell to the Bunyip but all good things come to an end .
This trips blog posts.
In past years we have made blogs while traveling and have posted every 3 to 4 days. I am hoping that we will be too busy enjoying the guinness and music in the Irish Pubs, and other activities during our travels. We will be taking photos, video and drone footage and notes as we travel and will post our blogs when time permits. So do not fret if you dont see our posts coming regularly. Our departure date is on Tuesday the 25th . Must do some packing . Cheers Ewout and Jenny
