t’s been a week since we have arrived here in Holland. We have bought our camper but still have not picked it up yet. We are waiting for a phone call from the dealer to say it ready. In the meantime we have been accumulating stuff to deck it out, some 2nd hand and some new. We have been doing the rounds of the shops to try to find different things. It’s not so simple here as the shops can be very different and things that we can find easily at home, they don’t seem to have or no one here know’s where to get them. So we just keep looking and I’m sure we will get what we need or we will adapt.
On Tuesday night we had Dinner with Ewout’s cousin Tonnie and her man Remco, They live in a very old house in Dordrecht, it was built in th 1700’s and looks on to the street with a lot of other old buildings. we had a most enjoyable evening, with good food, wine and a some laughter.
It’s been quite cool here, I’m glad I brought my winter jacket, hat and gloves. The cool crisp air is quite refreshing and we have been out for a couple of strolls at night. We walk down to the river and around the streets, looking in at the homes as we pass. Most of the homes have the curtains open and you look straight in at their living rooms where family’s go about their evening activites.
Today we have no set plans. Ewout is out in the back garden trying to remove a very large tree stump. This area is where we are going to store the camper after our trip, until we come back next year. The area is out the back of the block so should be out of the way.
So really we are just waiting, waiting until we get our camper. Then we can get it looked over by the garage that belongs to another cousin to make sure it’s mechanically good and then start getting it set up to live in.
