The Ring of Kerry is a drive that takes you around the Kerry Peninsula. It is a beautiful drive through narrow roads between verdant paddocks of cows and sheep bordered by stone walls. Small villages interspersed with tourist towns and views to lovely bays and majestic hillsides. We visited ancient ring forts that belied the imagination to how they would have built such structures without modern machinery. We were very fortunate with the weather, as it was a sunny fine day which showed of the Irish countryside at its best.

One way in and out
View of the valley from the stone fort.
Stopped here for coffee and scones, note the stonework in the building.
A roadside view
Another view as we drove the Ring of Kerry
And yet another view, there was plenty to see as we drove the windy roads.
Who carries stickers with them?, well I did ! if you really carefully about 100mm from the bottom of the sign, on the post I put a very small Australian flag sticker
Another Stone Fort - this one even bigger. Cahergal
Interesting to see the stone work on the walls.
It was a busy day driving and we parked up behind some sand dunes past the town of Dingle.
When we parked up we were alone, by nightfall we were joined by three other motorhomes.
It's Mother Day
Jenny awoke and I had made scrambled eggs with bacon on toast. The weather was bleak in the morning as we drove away from our parking spot behind some sand dunes. With no destination planned except to drive north.

Washing Day
14th of May 2023
Even on the road there are chores to be done, despite it being Mother’s Day. After a couple of attempts we found a laundromat, these are normally near shopping centres and service stations. Two loads of washing and one drying cycle we had finished, after about an hour and a half.
Spotted this van in the hedges.
Someone parked it and forgot about it, it is now part of the hedge.
Ferry to save time and deisel
Continuing north we took the Tarbert to Killimer Ferry, this cut of a couple of hours drive.
You can always see how dirty the roof is when you take a ferry.
It was nearing the end of the afternoon and stopped at a place called Tom Malone’s Pub Parking in the town of Miltown Malbay. Thanks to Michael and Pam and park4night. This place was only a short walk from the town, and it has a dump point which we needed. For Mother’s Day we went to the best restaurant in town [probably] The Bakehouse. The food, service and ambiance were excellent. Not finished for the night we had a drink at the local pub while listening to some live music. Then back to the Bunyip after a busy day.
Jenny enjoying her mothers day meal, she had the fish, I had the duck.
Another pub , more drinks.
Live music at the pub.
