After a dark and stormy night with lots of thunder and lightning we woke to an overcast but pleasant morning. A meeting of our “central committee” was held and it was decided to visit “Little France”.

It was a pleasant surprise to drive into a spacious and almost empty car park (especially after Versailles). Tickets purchased, we all wandered off to discover the wonders of France scaled down to

1:30.( We managed to learn, with broken English, limited French and Dutch that to explore the 116 exhibits should take about 2-2.1/2 hrs.) Astrid and I took any early lead, as everyone else was stopping to take photos (we had decided to scam all their photos later, saves carrying a camera) and were amazed at how life like and well set out all the exhibits were. Personally it gave me an overview of the country that no atlas or travel guide could. We got further ahead of the rest and ended up at the restaurant, mid way through the park, and sat down to wait. Willy and Dean joined us at one table  shortly followed by Ewout, Jenny, Ewoud and Martin at another. General consensus was reached, ice-cream was the order of the day. We were “gobsmacked” at the size, taste and cost of our ice creams, they were” Tres Bon””,Fantastique” and” Bloody Ripper mate”. We continued to the end, bought a mini Eiffel Tower, later to become the inaugural trophy for the Aussie rules petanque invitational( as sponsored by “Rottweiler Piss”). By the time we arrived back at home base the weather had fined up and was warm again. Damn, we just had to jump in the  pool and drink some more of the cheapest  quality beers I’ve ever come across. Ah it’s a hard life, it’s not all beer and skittles but we will continue to struggle on?
