It was a misty morning as we left our parking spot and hit the road again. Our destination today was the coastal town of Honfleur. On the way we stopped at a shopping centre, and nothing was open, we also realized that the traffic was very light and no trucks were on the road. Today was the 1st of May and a public holiday in France. This made our drive most enjoyable. We approached Honfleur from the eastern side as we had decided to cross over the Pont de Normandy, a spectacular bridge crossing the Seine River. Our mapping app took us on a bit of a winding path to get there as we were avoiding the toll roads. We got to a bridge that had lifted for shipping, while we waited a friendly man from the tower controlling the bridge told us it would be up for over an hour and directed us to another way around.

We finally approached the bridge and paid the toll 6.90 euros the rate for a motorhome and proceeded to cross taking in the views of the surrounding area. The bridge was indeed as spectacular as we had read about and extremely steep going up and then down. Below is a video of us crossing the bridge as seen by our dash cam.
Honfleur - Normandy - France
It was a public holiday, and the place was very busy, but we still managed to find a park a short distance to the centre of the old town. After several hours taking in the sights, it was time for a drink and a crepe, and as you can see by the photo not an ordinary crepe but the “weight watchers” one LOL. Well, we hope we did walk it off by the end of the day. The place was very quaint and despite all the cafés, bars and souvenir shops it has kept its ambiance. After a busy afternoon we headed of to our spot for the night which was just off the motorway next to a church near canola fields.
Below are some of the photos we took as we explored Honfleur.
