Ghosts, dolls, towns and planes !!

Monday the 19th of October 2020

As you can see by the title we had a busy day. We had an early start having packed up our campsite the night before. We drove back to Junee to check out some more of its tourist attractions.

Monte Christo House

This place is billed as the most haunted house in Australia, you can visit, have a night time haunted tour and also stay the night. They also hold an annual Halloween Ball. After paying our entrance fee ($13 each) we were given a map of the place and went seeking ghosts. It was a interesting place and although it was renovated after being purchased in 1961 still has a lot of work to be done. The ticket price also included the doll museum next door.

The Main house, doesn’t look very scary.
They had a good collection of carriages.

Junee Doll Museum

Normally a doll museum would not be on our list of things to see but as it was included in the ticket we went to have a look. It was certainly a vast collection with dolls from around the world. The owner also makes her own dolls and part of the collection are creepy dolls. The dolls were very well presented and having been open for only a year the owner plans to expand next year.

Country towns.

From Junee we headed to the town of Coolamon. A small town where we walked the main street and had lunch in a cafe. We had planned to go to the cheese factory cafe but after reading the reviews decided against it, apparently it has changed hands and no-one had a kind word in favour of it. We did go inside to check out the cheese but found it crazy expensive. We also wanted to look in the Up to date store but that was closed. The next town we visited was Ariah Park a pretty town with parks and interesting shop fronts. A drink at the pub sounded like a good idea but it was Monday the only day in the week that they close.

Temora and the Aviation Museum

We arrived at Temora and went to the aviation museum inquiring as to the tickets, the website was very confusing. We were informed that there was now no reason to book and that we could come at any time. We still had time that afternoon so we decided to visit straight away. A very well set out museum and good to get up close to the aircraft. Plenty of reading material and video’s as well.

Temora showgrounds

An unpowered site at the Temora Showgrounds was only $10 a night it had good reviews and was only a couple of kilometres away. A very quiet place with caravaners and campers well spaced out. The amenities block had been recently refurbished and were very clean. Tired from a busy day it was an early night in bed watching a movie on the tablet.

Can someone explain to me how horses camp?
