We had planned to meet up with old friends and traveling companions in Fougeres, Britany. We met Clyde and Anna in Morroco in 2011 and have since traveled with them in Turkey and Sicily. Our meeting place was the towns municipal campsite, a clean and tidy campsite for 21euros per day/ including electricity, which we opted for as our inverter has died, more about that in a later post. In France many places have different opening hours, and some campsites are closed from 12.00 to 15.00 in the afternoon, which of course this one did. So arriving at 12.30 we were told to come back at 15.00 as the place was closed for lunch. To kill some time, we drove to a carpark close to the town centre and went for a stroll. With the campground opened we booked in and were placed on our site, no choice of where to go. Clyde and Anna arrived at 17.00 and we had saved the spot next to ours for them to stay. The evening was spent catching up and reminiscing about past trips and adventures.

Door of the day - mainly because of it's location, above another door.
Rest day and sticker removal day.
3rd May 2023
A group vote deemed today a day of resting, which worked out for most of the day. Jenny started taking stickers of the Bunyip. Over the years we have pimped our motorhome to let people know that we come from Australia. So once one kangaroo sticker came off then someone tackled the next, and most of the stickers came off easily except the one on the bonnet, the map of Europe with all the countries we had visited. It was a matter of trial and error before Clyde worked out the easiest method and finally that was also gone, the Bunyip is looking quite bare and just needs a final polish. That evening Clyde cooked us all curry and rice and we talked and drank away the evening
Final visit to Fougeres and we farewell Clyde and Anna
4th May 2023
Firstly it is now May the fourth (Happy Star Wars Day). With Clyde and Anna in tow we set of to explore the castle and town of Fougeres. We paid our 9 euros entry fee for the castle, and although there were no internal rooms set up with furnishing it was well worth the visit. Fortified with coffee we tackled the steep walk up to the town and explored the church, gardens, panoramic views of castle, had a photo taken and finished with a kabab for lunch. Our time in Fougeres had ended and it was time to bid farewell to Clyde and Anna until next time. They decided to see more of the town and walk back to the campsite and we drove off to the town of Vitres. Near the old town of was a carpark with 3 places for motorhomes two were taken by motorhomes and the other a small car had parked there. I won’t tell you what I said when I saw it in the designated motorhome parking area, any way the place was next to a busy road and we decided to go out of the town. Our park4night app found us a quiet spot next to a lake, much nicer.
