Conwy, a beautiful quaint beach side town at the north of Wales with a castle and town walls that you can stroll upon. Oh how it sounds so idyllic, it was even reported to have the best mussels in all of Wales. That is, when it is not school holidays. Luckily we got there early an found a carpark in the motorhome section of the carpark. As we wandered we noticed that there were a lot of children around for a weekday and when I asked someone I was told that it was school holidays for the week, well lucky us.
Exploring Conwy
Despite the place being over run it was a very nice place to visit. Our self guided walking tour took us to the St Mary’s Church, coffee in a cafe, a walk on the the old town walls, we saw the smallest house in the UK, had fish and chips for lunch, strolled through the streets and listened to a busker. What we didn’t do was visit the Conwy Castle, after our castle visit yesterday we were castled out. It did look impressive from the outside.
A quiet night by the forest and river.
Our visit to Conwy over we headed back to the carpark, which by this time was full with cars in the motorhome area almost boxing us in, we had to exit weaving through some cars. Back on the road and heading south we crossed a narrow one lane bridge and as we did so spotted a car park next to a forest and a stream. We made a u turn and decided this would make a great overnight spot. Although it was only mid afternoon we needed a beak from driving and sight seeing. I went for a walk down the road and discovered we were in a place called Dolgarrog, Wales does have some strange sounding to us names, some we can’t pronounce. later we were joined by a German campervan who also thought that this would make a good overnight place. The day ends and we have an early night as we have a train to catch tomorrow.
