Belgium to Germany , 26th September 2009

We have just spent the most enjoyable evening and day with Carlo and Jeanne at their home in Belgium. Carlo tried to educate Ewout on the different types of Belgium beer and Jeanne spoilt us with some wonderful home cooked meals. We got to sleep in a real bed in their home and it was a wonderful change from the camper.

After leaving Carlo & Jeanne’s home we headed east and found a place by a canal to spend the night. It was a very quiet peaceful spot so we decided it was a good choice and had a peaceful nights rest. The next morning we drove over the border past Mastricht and into Germany. We took the main motorways which are all very full of trucks but as we were just heading straight for a particular camperstop it was the easiest way and we were in no mood to do the windy, scenic option. Still the countryside along the motorway was pleasant with a lot of the fields being ploughed or ready to reap.

We spent a couple of nights in different camperstops by small towns, nothing really remarkable about them but pleasant and quiet. On Friday we decided to stay in a campground near Munster, it was a chance to use the larger facilities that a campsite has to offer and as it is quite close to Oelde where we are to be on Saturday it ended up being a good choice. Munsterland Campingpark was a lovely green park surrounded by forest with a lake close by. A short ride on our bikes took us into town and we enjoyed a ride that took us back through the forest and past the lake.
