Akyaka

Akyaka.

Akyaka was mainly a spot chosen for its convenience as a waystop on to our next destination.   An overnight sleeping place, situated next to the marina,  it was a large carpark with cafés and hotels close by. We went for a walk around the holiday town finding interest in the old buildings and watching groups of young men and families enjoying the day out. That afternoon I decided to have a catch up nap, so Ewout decided to go for a swim and ended up joining a group of university lads who were having fun jumping off a small rocky cliff into the water.

View of the beach. Lots of umbrella’s and sun beds.

We couldn’t be bothered making tea that night so opted for a meal served on an old boat by the river, a simple  meal of fresh fish and salad in bread wih fried calamari on the side. It was delicious and with a view of the estuary and a visit by some hungry geese we had an enjoyable time.

Early morning picture of the beach near the harbour. Very quiet.

That night we settled down to sleep and had a group of lads on scooters park between the motorhomes, we weren’t sure what they were doing but after a while Ewout decided to go and see, and after explaining we were trying to sleep they apologized and soon took off. We have been impressed with the young people here, how polite, friendly and respectful they are.
