31st August 2019. Stayed overnight at the free Aire in Treviso. All the usual services.
Giavera del Montello
Our destination was to be Venice but the weather forecast said rain and thunderstorms and it was also the weekend. As we have no set plans or schedule we decided to visit a few towns nearby to Venice. By the way the weather has been fine and the forecast proved to be incorrect.
Our first small town was Giavera del Montello as this happens to be where the family of our brother in law Romeo comes from. We found an easy park and as luck would have it a market was set up. We do like a good market and Jenny found a lightweight cool pair of pants to buy. There was evidence of the Francescini clan on a memorial plaque on the walls of the church. Lunch time and we sought out some shade a few kilometers into the hills and getting into the Italian way had a siesta. A quiet break in the afternoon.

Treviso
The town provides an aire next to a sports stadium with large pitches and all the usual facilities. The pitch we had our eye on was covered in garbage so we got out a garbage bag and cleaned it up. It was next to some lawn so we could use it to sit on and we would only have one neighbour.
The town was not far away and we walked in to find a very charming town with a few canals. We spent a few hours exploring and walked back to the Bunyip for hopefully a quiet night.

Despite being next to a train line and a large Carpark we had a quite night.
1st September 2019. Stayed next to a lake
Bassano di Grappa
The weather forecast still told us that thunder storms were on the cards. So we decided to go visit a couple of other towns before heading into Venice. We were not sure how busy they they were going to be as it was Sunday. Another early start and it wasn’t long before we were in Bassano di Grappa. We found an easy carpark and went to explore the town. Another pleasant town with lots of locals strolling the streets and sampling the grappa. It has a covered bridge which unfortunately was filled with scaffolding due to renovation work. Otherwise an enjoyable walk.

As it was still early we decided to visit another town close by.
Vincenza
After finding easy parks in previous places we looked up a carpark close to town. It said for motorhomes, sounded good !! well after getting to the parking area they had boom gates which always means paying. How much could it be? Well they had flat rate for motorhomes 24 hours for €8.20. Of course this was not explained before you drive in. Oh well live and learn.

We were however rewarded with a very beautiful town.
It was the first Sunday of the month and the museums were free that day so we had a look into Galleria di palazzo Leonie Montanari. It was a lovely cool oasis and was interesting with some great artwork and interesting ceilings.
An enjoyable place to visit with some excellent gelati. Late in the afternoon we headed of to a small lake where we spent a quiet night alongside a few other motorhomes.
