We left our quite aire and drove to Zaragoza to a parking place next to an amusement park. Our resources had told us that it was a free place to park and a bus stop is right outside. Well it was a free place and the bus stop was there, but as the park is not open during the week with school holidays finished the buses do not run. Option two was to find park near the town and walk in, which we did and only had to walk 15 minutes to the edge of the old town. With a map of the place from the tourist office we went exploring.

With our afternoon coffee we had churros in a quaint coffee shop on the main street and was very surprized with the price, not tourist prices at all. After wandering the streets we ventured into the cathedral which was impressive, is has to be good for us to be impressed as we have seen so many churches in our trips to Europe.

As the day went on we decided that this would be our last chance to try the tapas in Spain and we went on a tapa crawl. Each place we went to had a completely different atmosphere but each was enjoyable experience. The first place was in the university area and was mostly frequented with students, here we had a beer with croquets. The second place was a cross between a museum and a tapas bar with the place full of interesting items on the walls, and ceilings. Here we had two selections of tapas each with a beer. We sat at the bar and watched the waiter cut the ham from the bone, when I asked if I could take his photo he had no objection and then he told me to come around at the back of the bar and try for myself and have a photo taken. I didn’t get the ham pieces as thin as he did but then again I think that he has had more practice. All sorts of people were in the place from elderly men to young people and a few tourists. The third place was on a street corner and very busy with all the locals. We had a beer with a tapas for a very cheap price, in fact all of the places we went to were for the locals and the price reflected that. By this time we were full and headed back to the “Bunyip”.

It was a short drive to the amusement park carpark where we had a quiet night joined by two other motorhomes.

Last day in Spain

In the morning we drove north stopping at Huesca to do some shopping, this was one of the places we stayed when we first drove into Spain. We then drove to the town of Jaca thinking we might stay there overnight until we came to the motorhome parking area which was in a state of upgrade with machinery and piles of dirt, it will be good when it is finished. We parked closer to the town and went for a walk making our way to the fortress, which of course was closed for siesta, so we decided to get back on the road and headed further north. Late afternoon we drove through the Somport tunnel and into France ending our travels in Spain. This time we had enjoyed Spain more than the two other times we drove through. We spent more time in Spain this trip and felt that we embraced the lifestyle more. Onwards into France, more exploring to do.
