Leaving Florence in the morning we drove through the relatively quiet streets as it was a Saturday and headed south to meet up with Clyde and Anna. These are an English couple who we have travelled with in Morocco in 2011 and Turkey in 2013. We will be spending a couple of days with them in a campsite before they head south and then we will meet up mid-May in Sicily to spend some more  time travelling together. The drive was very pleasant and our first stop was a supermarket to stock up on food and drinks.

As we were driving out through the town Lori said there was a man on a bike waving at us, when I looked to the side of the road there was Clyde on his bike. Anna was also there as they were off to the supermarket as to get some supplies. We gave our greetings and said we would meet up at the campsite. The campsite was muddy as it has rained the night before but the scenery was idyllic , just what you imagine Tuscany to be.

We spent two pleasant days together with Clyde and Anna, going for walks to the local villages and having a meal at a Pizzeria. On Monday morning we packed up cleaning off the mud as best we could said our farewells and headed to San Gimignano.

Our first stop, in a town noted for the many towers and piazzas, was very enjoyable walking around and discovering small alleys as well as interesting features. We then headed off after lunch to Castellina in Chianti to explore some more. Exploring this little town, we again found many points of interest, including the Archaeological museum with various Etruscan items from local excavations.

Love the pics and blog. We were in San Gimigano in 2001 when we were very new at overseas travelling. Don’t remember it being that pretty or the towers. Made me want to go back.
