Saturday 5th April 2014
Today was the day to get stuck into our preparations for our journey. The motorhome had to be filled with all the bits and pieces for a comfortable journey, essential supplies and our own personal effects. Our bikes needed to be sorted and a way for an extra one to be put on the rack engineered. With three male heads put to the task, a way was found to fit it on the back so that it was convenient to access. Meanwhile the Women’s task was to do the shopping, stocking up the pantry and fridge.
Sunday 6th April
The morning was spent doing some last preparations on the motorhome, then an early lunch, for the afternoon was set aside for another sightseeing outing. Ewoud and Martin had suggested we visit an interesting old castle (650 yrs) call Lovestein. It was only 45 mins away by car and so we made way along the motorway and small roads to the picturesque fortress situated on the confluence of two rivers. Ewoud’s daughter Trudi and the granddaughters Nienke and Jana accompanied us on our sojourn and we enjoyed the excitement of the young girls in their enthusiasm for the outing. We had a great time wandering through the Museum and the halls of the building, learning about its history and marvelling at the engineering that would have gone into its construction.
