Slovenia – Holland [Lots of driving]
On Monday morning we left the campsite near Lake Bled and headed north on our journey back to Martin’s place in Holland. We drove through Austria and made an overnight stop in a free camperstop just north of Salzburg. It was a small place by the main road and busy, but we managed to find a place on the grass surrounded by German motorhomes. The next morning we were on the road again and thought that we would go in the direction of Nurnberg as we knew there were at least 3 camperstops we could choose from. After we had driven for a long while we stopped to get some diesel and looked in the camperstop book to find that there was a place about 2km’s from where we were in a town called Greding. Having enough of travelling we followed the directions to the site but the GPS co-ordinates were incorrect and could not find the place, resorting to asking a shopkeeper we found the car park next to the swimming pool. We spent some time exploring the small walled town and the church and small chapel next to it which contained bones and skulls. There was a sign explaining about the remains but being in German we didn’t make much sense of it. It was a warm day and we couldn’t resist having an icecream in the centre square before we headed back and spent the rest of the afternoon relaxing and reading.
Back on the road the next day, we drove heading for Holland and stopped at a camperstop inRensdorf about 10km’s from the main highway. It was a quiet spot and we were the only camper in the parking area. Finally on Thurday we arrived in Holland at about 2 in the afternoon to be greeted by Martin. We were glad to be back and have some time to do some maintenance and pack up and clean the camper before our friends Helen and John take it on its next adventure.
What wonderful memories you have to keep of your travels, interesting places and people on the way, as well as glorious food!!
